How it all started....

It was in one Sunday morning on March 1985 when Chinese Paintings found me. As I sat on a cold floor scribbling some pine trees I saw from one of those Sunday morning Chinese movies on some piece of paper, my mother passed me by. Inspired with what she saw, she enrolled me to a Chinese painting workshop in Liberty Hall (Binondo, Manila) that summer.

Along with my twin brother, Woody, we met Master Li (李文漢教授), who has had a tremendous influence in nurturing our interests in the Chinese landscape painting theme. As kids, we were extremely amazed with the wonders one can do with the paintbrush and best of all, letting the “rice paper” do the effects for you! We continued attending these 6-week summer workshops for another 10 years, learning from different Chinese painting artists.

Later in 1991, I joined a group called “Green Pine Chinese Painting Experimental Guild” to network with other students of Chinese Painting. When I went to college in June 1993, I spent less and less time in the organization and eventually stopped painting for awhile. I took up painting again in late 1998 during my stint with Basic Holdings Corporation as an internal auditor, as I found it to be an effective means of relieving work-related stress. Inspired and influenced by great masters like 劉墉, 趙少昂, 李德珍, 郭燕橋, 黃君璧, 范增, 歐豪年, 傅狷夫 and his student, 蔡松霖, I spent more and more of my free time (usually weekends or weeknights, when not on provincial assignments) in my family's dining room letting my inspiration take over. It was here that the skills with the paintbrush in producing landscape paintings were developed further through constant practice, self-experiment and reading the books of those great masters.

Rediscovering the passion for painting has given me great joy. It has also made me realize that most people in the world know too little or nothing about the artistic Chinese treasures available. Hence, I have decided to share my talents online. As this website is a new beginning, let’s see where it takes us.

Welcome!
